The Little Old Lady

Today for Book Character Dress Up Day, all the kindergarten teachers dressed up as parts of the scarecrow from the book, The Little Old Lady Who Wasn't Afraid of Anything! Our class has acted out this book and it's one of their favorites!

Guest Reader!

Drew's grandmother, a former 1st grade teacher, joined us for Book Character Dress Up Day. She made a special visit to read to us! She's our 1st guest reader and we loved having her!

Scarecrows

For homework the kids had to dress up a scarecrow using a template that was sent home. These were so creative, I had to share! The kids LOVED sharing them with the class and were so PROUD!

A Week of Thanksgiving!

It was such a wild week that I didn't get as many pictures as I would've like. It's better than nothing! We wrote a predictable chart about what we were thankful for. Then we cut of the sentence, to put the words in order and illustrated our words for a class book.

This week in the grocery store we made a grocery list.

In math we made a fall noddle necklace.

Book Character Dress Up Day!

We end Children's Book week with a bang! We dressed up as our favorite book characters and had a Book Character Parade around the school. Can you figure out who these ADORABLE characters are?

OOPS!

I made a big mistake last night! I decided to delete the Kodak program on my computer since I truly dislike it! Today at school I went to upload a video of the students working in the blocks center and could not find it! When I deleted the program I deleted all the pictures and videos from last week! I had also deleted my memory card! I usually transfer them to My Pictures, but didn't do it before deleting Kodak. Well, I'm sorry I do not have anything to post! I'm very upset because I had wonderful videos of the kids making apple butter and homemade biscuits. It was such a fun and yummy week at school. Wish us luck tomorrow, it's pictures with Santa, H1N1 shots, and wear a tie to school! It should be one WILD day!

Falling Into Fall!

Graphing leaves with JC's mom! We love our parent volunteers!
We sorted "acorn shapes" in math and then put number words in order!

This week was our 1st time using our word sticks to build words! We had fun making real and nonsense words.

We created letters, numbers, and patterns using the peg boards in the fine motor center.

The grocery store opened this week in dramatic arts! We are having fun shopping and writing sales.
This week we wrote a class book about our field trip to Farm Days! We picked our favorite picture and Mrs. Robinson wrote what we wanted our page to say.

We traced and painted fall leaves in the art center. They are hanging in our tree outside.

A classmate broke her arm at recess last week! Poor thing! We all signed her cast.

Career Day!

Check out all the careers we learned about last Friday at Career Day!

We really enjoyed Dr. McRoberts. He is a dentist and a great magician!

Mr. Morton works for South Carolina Wild Life. We enjoyed hearing how he saves and protects animals. We especially liked looking at the baby alligator he rescued from a home.

Clemson University's Chemistry students performed the Chemistry Road Show! We loved watching things exploded!

Mr. Crouch showed us a really cool boat he has for sale at his store and he showed us how he teaches kids to water ski!

Josh's dad gave us some tips on staying safe and he told us all the things police officers do to keep our community safe.

Noah's dad and grandfather taught us about fire safety. We all had a turn sitting in the fire truck.
