Hi Ho! Hi Ho! It's off to the strawberry patch we go!

We had so much fun on our field trip to Callaham Farm. While we were there we took a tractor ride, picked our own strawberries, fed the goats and sheep, milk a cow (it was a pretend cow), had a duck race, and ended it with delicious ice cream. All that fun made us hungry and we went to a park for lunch and played on the playground. What a day! Some say it was the best day ever! We had a very peaceful ride home on the bus!

Wow Mrs. Pruitt and Mrs. Robinson! Your facial expressions look like you just rode a roller coaster. You do realize it was only a kiddie slide?

The slides were the highlight of the playground. We loved racing each other.
We all need a moment to ourselves.

Yummy! Ice Cream! We thought it was so cool to eat ice cream before lunch. We promised we wouldn't tell Mr. Bolger, our principal.
Go Ducks! Go!

We thought it was so cool to wash our hand in a tub!

We enjoyed feeding the goats and sheep. We think they liked it too.

The race was on to see which side could milk the cow the fastest!

Each of us were able to pick a pint of strawberries. Some of us were very particular about which strawberries were best of picking.

We loved the tractor ride through the apple and peach orchards, the blackberry bushes, and grape vines.

We enjoyed singing songs on the tractor ride.

The Life of a Mealworm!

This week we focused on sequential order. We studied this in science with the life cycle of a mealworm, in math with numeral order, and in games and puzzles with a days of the week card game, The Very Hungry Caterpillar and retelling a story. Exploring beetles: the mealworms final stage of life before laying eggs
We put story puzzles in sequential order and had to dictate the story to a teacher.

At Mrs. Williams table we complete the investigation: Do mealworms prefer vinegar or water? To start the experiment we had to find the mealworms in their habitat and place them in the center of our experiment box.

We were shocked to find out that our "mystery object", a mealworm, turned into a beetle. Several of us predicted it would turn into a butterfly.

We had such a fun time playing the card game, The Very Hungry Caterpillar. It was a big test to see if we could read the days of the week.

We enjoyed placing dominoes under "their" number. It was fun to see the different ways to "make" a number.

Shake and Roll!!~ A math game to practice reading dice

We listened to the story "The Grouchy Ladybug". It was also a fun way to practice telling time and studying sequential order.

Next week for snack, we will be eating different types of Mexican dishes.

We had so much fun finger painting large pictures in the art center. This was great practice for writing and illustrating a big book!

In the writing center, we put our number words in order, wrote them, and then had to draw objects to go with each number!

Magnetized!!

The week before Spring Break we started our unit of study on magnets. Each of our centers had a task for us to complete using magnets.
We enjoyed using magnetic pattern blocks and using a magnetic abacus to solve subtraction problems.

Our building in the blocks' center is becoming more extravagant. We also built with magnetic blocks.
At Mrs. Williams' table we learned how to play the telephone game. We would call our friend and they would have to give us a high frequency word to spell.

4 in a row! We practice coin identification and used magnetic counters to mark our spot.

We practiced taking turns and sharing as we learned to play Candy Land.

We are still loving our new listening center. We now have a choice to listen to a book on tape or our songs. We love having a choice.

Our class has really become a group of authors! We LOVE writing and illustrating books to read to the class. In the writing center, we have a bucket on prepare books to choose from and we become writers. We really love to build our own book in the art center.

In art we took the week to cut, paint, glitter, and glue an egg headband.

In the writing center, we had to build works and decide if they were real or make believe. Some of the words were really tough!

At Mrs. Williams' table we completed a science experiment, testing which magnet would hold the most paper clips.

With Mrs. Robinson, we created Marble Magic Paintings.

In games and puzzles we had to put together magnetic puzzles.

In the science center we explored different types of magnets. Our favorite were the Knex blocks.
