Monster Madness!

We have started creating our own fairy tales and acting them out!

We have started building some very extravagant castles in the blocks center.

In the writing center we practiced identifying the beginning sounds of words and writing the letters we've learned so far.

In the math center, we counted how many monsters were in the closets and had to write the correct number.

In art, we finger painted the body to our monster.  Next week, we will add monster parts to it.

We painted some awesome monsters!  They look “scary” displayed in our room.

In the fine motor center, we covered the letter Mm with colored macaroni noodles.  Some of us even tried to make a color pattern.

What a treat!  Mutsumi’s sister came to our classroom to read a book to us in Japanese!  It was so neat to hear and was a wonderful example of how we are all different and each family is special! September 083  She also demonstrated how to make origami.September 085

We ended our unit of study on our families by building a house for snack!  It was a great lesson on following directions! September 096 September 097 September 098 September 099 September 100 We had a “dinner theater” on Friday.  During our snack time, a group of 1st graders acted out a play!
