Tracing is still a favorite in the fine motor center!
While we were studying families, we enjoyed using the doll house in the blocks center!
We loved having George’s grandparents volunteer in our classroom. George’s mom helped us stamp bodies in the science center, during our unit of study on Myself and Others
Measuring our names using hands and unifix cubes
Matching pictures to their beginning letter sound
Drawing our 1st self portrait with Mrs. Robinson
We also weighed ourselves and measured our height. We complete 3 self portraits a year and it’s so neat to compare them!
Labeling body parts in the science center sorting shapes that are different and the same Counting the number of “taps” our friend makes on our back
It was a lot harder to count using our sense of touch instead of sight
What a treat! Mutsumi’s sister came to our classroom to read a book to us in Japanese! It was so neat to hear and was a wonderful example of how we are all different and each family is special! She also demonstrated how to make origami.
Matching lower case letters to upper case letters
painting our house using water colors
putting stories in sequential order
Spin a family graph~ We gathered data using tally marks, created a bar graph and then analyzed and compared our graphs
It’s always wonderful to celebrate a birthday!
Playing the alphabet shake and find game
completing the Number Board Game
We had to put the correct number of stickers to represent each number 0-10
putting blocks in order by size
We ended our unit of study on our families by building a house for snack! It was a great lesson on following directions! We had a “dinner theater” on Friday. During our snack time, a group of 1st graders acted out a play!
