Happily Ever After

We have really enjoyed building castles in the blocks center.
We enjoyed matching rhyming pictures and writing rhyming words in the writing center.

We had free choice finger painting in art.

Mrs. Williams and Mrs. Robinson finally got the castle put up in dramatic arts and we've done a wonderful job of retelling fairy tales. Next week we get to us costumes!

This week we've learned how to play 3 different dice games!

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday Noah! Mrs. Robinson's laughing because Noah blew out his candle during the birthday song! We hope his wish comes true!

Authors and Illustrators!

Don't you know! It's the cool thing to do! The kids have really enjoyed writing and illustrating their own books and reading them to the class. We are so proud of them! We know their parents are too!

Grandparents Day!

To celebrate Grandparents' Day, Ravenel had Grits for Grands on Monday. The kids enjoyed eating a delicious breakfast with their grandparents and showing them around the classroom. The tree outside our classroom was decorated with hearts. The kids drew a picture of their grandparents on the heart and said what they enjoyed most about their grandparents.

Catching Up!

It's hard to believe we've been in school for 23 days (I think). The kids are getting along great with each other and working so hard. As the days go on, I'm learning more about each child and their needs. They are all at different levels and challenge me as a teacher each day! Sam wrote and illustrated his own book and was so excited to share it with the class.
We are still studying Fairy Tales with Mrs. Robinson. After reading Goldilocks, we ate "porridge" (oatmeal) for snack. The kids thought it was a real treat.

After sorting pictures that started with s and m, Clark decided he would write the names of the pictures! Way to go!

Blake was so proud to read the book, Big Bear, Small Bear to the class.

In the fine motor center, we had to string the correct number of beads for each number card.

Since we're studying about our bodies, we had a fun time putting the puzzle Operation together.

We've enjoyed building castles in the blocks center.

These guys decided to make a pattern using links. It was over 200 links long!
They were so proud!
In the writing center, we had to match lower case letters to upper case letters.

After reading 3 Billy Goats Gruff, we had a cheese tasting for snack. We voted on the cheese we liked best. Our taste samples were American, Cheddar, and Goat cheese. American Cheese was our favorite. I was so proud of the kids. They ALL tried the 3 types of cheeses.

Putting stories in sequential order
The water table was a big hit in the science center.

Meet Mrs. Williams

I am taking a Technology Class this year and our 1st assignment is to introduce ourselves through the Internet. Just FYI...I don't want you to think I sit around in my spare time and create videos of myself!

What's My Name?

This week we focused on our names and did activities to help us identify the letters in our name. In the writing center, we clothes pinned the letters of our name in order. We then had to practice writing our name using lower case letters.
In the science center we used play dough and cookie cutters to spell our 1st name.

Our building in the blocks center is getting more advanced each week. This was a race track with tunnels.

When we finish our "assigned" task in centers, we are allowed to pick any task we like. I'm proud of how well the kids are staying on task and choosing great projects to work on.

We had a new alphabet puzzle this week. They love using pointers to point to the letters and say the picture that matches each letter.

We loved picking any stickers we wanted to, to complete our number board

In the fine motor center we had to hammer our initials.

We also learned how to roll play dough in the fine motor center. We used the play dough to form the letters in the alphabet.

Partner Match! In the math center, we had to match foam strips that were the same length.
